An important thing I’ve learned when you go on a retreat, a pilgrimage or even something like NCYC, is that you need time to think about what you’ve experienced; the speakers you heard, the thousands of people who believe the same things you do, and to share their joy is something that only you and the people that went with you can understand.
Here are a few things I’ve reflected on that I wanted to share (some serious, some silly):
PRAY = Praise, Repent, Ask and Yield is an awesome acronym for prayer.
The Church is definitely alive, and you guys are an awesome representation of it.
Chris Stepanick can play some serious guitar, but aside from that is an awesome speaker.
It’s not who you are that is important, but whose you are.
Sr. Miriam Heidlad (she’s on Twitter!) was my favorite keynote speaker; her witness was so awesome and inspiring.
Archbishop Thompson is down to Earth and a great leader for our Archdiocese.
The sacraments are awesome, especially Confession and Adoration.
The Catholic Dance is awesome! (Anybody still remember it?)
Meeting Jason Evert (the Chastity Guy) was one of the biggest highlights of my life, both personally and professionally.
Iowa and Texas have the best tradables
There were also some great articles that were written up about the event: Sr. Miriam Heidland (the nun that was a keynote speaker) wrote a really cool and short article about it: http://www.ncregister.com/blog/sistermiriam/a-lasting-hope-encountering-christ-at-ncyc
Fun Fact: That was her FIRST NCYC! (How cool it was to hear her witness and also have some of us get a picture with her!)
If you wanted to go back and check on what Archbishop Gomez said, you can check it out here: http://www.archindy.org/criterion/local/2017/11-24/ncyc-closing.html
I'm also working on a YouTube Playlist of the speakers from the event! Which you can check out here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCO-Q0mvc9agcyN8NG9HkTEojgevqmG1z (Most of these talks were not filmed at NCYC, but the message is still the same!)
I want to personally thank all of our sponsors, John our bus driver, but most importantly Kathy, Michelle and Kyle. I could not have asked for a better team of chaperones, but most importantly for you guys; NCYC was one of the biggest highlights of my life both professionally and personally, and I hope it was meaningful for you as well.
Do you have a moment/photo from NCYC that you want to share? (Did a particular speaker move you?) Send them to me (email@example.com) and I’ll put them in the photo gallery.
